Sunflowers has always fascinated the creative minds from around the world. We have all kinds of poetry, prose, paintings, and the like, sunflower shown and described in many different ways. The famous Dutch painter Van Gogh was so amazed by her beauty that he created two series of paintings depicting sunflowers in different contexts.
Such is the magic of this wonderful creation of God, who sees everything once, it simply falls for her.

Helianthus, is the genre it belongs sunflower. It is a combination of two words viz. Helios means sun and Anthos means flower.

Sunflower head consists of 1,000 to 2,000 individual flowers, which are joined at the base. Large petals found around the edge are individual ray flowers that do not become seeds.

A sunflower can only have a maximum of 2,000 seeds.

A domesticated sunflower has a single stem and a seed head. This is in contrast to the wild strain that is highly branched, and seeds of small head.

A sunflower plant can grow to 3 feet to 18 feet tall, and requires only 90-100 days to mature.

The most distinctive feature is its head sunflower bloom follows the movement of the sun. This type of phenomenon is known as heliotropismo. This is precisely why it is also a symbol of the Spiritualist Church that believes in making a person from darkness to light through spiritual thought.

More than sixty varieties of sunflowers can be found worldwide. Of these, the most common is bright yellow in color, with a dark brown center full of seeds. The others include those in shades of orange, red, brown, tan, etc. Some varieties also have striped petals.

Not only are the petals of different colors, but their centers also vary in shade.

In recent years, a new form of low sunflower pollen created. This method will not only help reduce the risk of asthma in people who are allergic to pollen, but also increase the life of the flower.

Sunflower seeds are used for making cooking oil, medicine, painting, animal feed and biodiesel.

Interestingly, after the Chernobyl nuclear accident in Ukraine in 1986, sunflowers have been used to remove harmful nuclear debris from nearby body of water. Moreover, the same type of operation was launched in 2011 in Japan, publishes the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.
