Weight Loss Supplements That WorkIs not it better to lose weight naturally through diet, exercise and nutritional supplements? Not necessarily.
Losing fat increases your metabolism and easier weight management, so any weight loss supplement that causes fat loss without harming you really are a good thing.
Keeping that in mind, here are some weight loss supplements that actually work.
It may be that many people who are overweight are deficient in Coenzyme Q10. In a study of obese subjects, 52 men were deficient in Coenzyme Q10. When they were supplemented with 100 mg of coenzyme Q10 daily, along with a low calorie diet, the men who were deficient in Coenzyme Q10 lost 29.7 pounds, while those with normal levels of coenzyme Q10 only lost 12.76 pounds .
Given all the other excellent features of coenzyme Q10, it is definitely worth a try.
Interestingly, chromium supplementation has been shown to lower body weight while increasing lean body mass. In another study, subjects who received 400 mcg of chromium picolinate lost 4.2 pounds of fat and gained 1.4 pounds of lean body mass over a period of 2 Suplementos naturales months.
Now, why would that be?
In clinical studies of diabetics, it has been found that chromium increases insulin sensitivity. Since increasing insulin insensitivity is essential in promoting weight loss, it makes sense that chromium could promote fat loss. One last interesting tidbit about chromium. Apparently, it can be exhausted by eating refined sugar and refined carbohydrates, like white flour, and lack of exercise as well. It sounds suspiciously like the modus operandi of the average overweight person, right? Hmmm.
Saturated fats such as red meat and dairy products, are usually to prevent weight loss programs. Coconut oil is a saturated fat, but actually promotes weight loss! How can this be?
Apparently, coconut oil has a different molecular structure than most saturated fats. Whereas the carbon chains in most saturated fats wavelength range 18 to 24 carbon atoms (long chain tryglycerides or LCTs), the carbon chains in coconut oil range of 6 to 12 carbon atoms in length (medium-chain or tryglycerides MCT). Apparently, the shorter carbon chain saturated fats in coconut oil are easier to metabolize most saturated fats.
For example, one study compared a high-calorie diet containing 40 against the TCP with 40 LCTs. The authors found that the thermogenic effect of MCT was almost double that of LCTs, with 120 calories burned by the MCT versus 66 calories per LCTs. (Thermogenic refers to the amount of calories burned simply consuming food.)
In a follow up study, the authors concluded that MCT supplementation for six days increased thermogenesis by 50.
In another study, researchers compared only 400 calories meals composed entirely of any TCP or LCTs. MCT increased thermogenesis three times the LCTs. Surprisingly, the MCT had no effect on levels of blood fat. The researchers concluded that the use of TCP instead of LCTs would lead to weight loss, as long as the calories remain the same.
You know, I was alone in the store and can not stand to spend the money on coconut oil. It’s like 10 for a 16 oz bottle. But I go back and get it, anyway.
Just replace coconut oil for oil normally used in cooking and salad dressings.
A series of double-blind studies conducted at the University of Rome revealed that 5-HTP in fact promote weight loss. In the first study, women taking 5-HTP consume fewer calories and weight loss even though he made no attempt to eat less. The following study of the series trying to discover whether 5-HTP helped subjects to adhere to dietary restrictions. In the first 6 weeks of the study, no dietary restrictions. In the second 6-week study, subjects were placed on a diet of 1200 calories The woman who took the 5-HTP lost 10.34 pounds, while women who took the placebo lost only 2.28 pounds. In the third study, which was structured similarly to the second study, women taking 5-HTP lost 11.63 pounds after 12 weeks, compared to 1.87 pounds for the placebo group. In all cases, women taking 5-HTP reported feeling satisfied by eating less food than they normally did.
The reason for this may be that women are eating good diets low in tryptophan sources or lack of an enzyme that converts tryptophan to 5-HTP and subsequently to serotonin. If there are low levels of serotonin in the brain, the brain senses hunger and stimulates appetite. Supply of accounting 5-HTP bypasses the problem and seems literally to turn off hunger.
As a bonus, the only adverse effect reported of 5-HTP 900 mg a day is mild nausea.
